Mace,Tear gas, and Pepper Spray, What's the difference?

If you're not sure about the differences between Mace, tear gas and pepper spray, you're not alone. They are all used in warfare, police activities and individual self defense strategies. They all temporarily incapacitate those who encounter them. They are all (depending on where you live) restricted substances. But there are several differences you need to be aware of before making a purchase.

Lets start with the basic of mace and pepper spray, For starters Mace and Pepper Spray are 2 totally different self-defense products.
Mace is classified as an irritant and is similar to tear gas, Mace has NO effect on criminals under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Mace will NOT cause inflammation of the capillaries of the eyes and skin causing temporary blindness, nausea, breathing difficulties and an intense burning sensation. It is also important to note that Mace is a brand name associated with pepper spray.
Mace is considered a type of tear gas. There are three major types of tear gas, all of which are chemicals, and one of which is not used in civilian life. Mace is a well-known brand name for orthochlorobenzalmalononitrile, abbreviated as CN, which became available for sale in 1962. Since that time, tear gas has been restricted in many states: the Mace brand is now actually pepper spray, although sprays composed of various types of tear gas or tear gas combined with pepper spray are being sold under various brand names.
Mace and tear gas don't affect individuals under the influence, but pepper spray DOES
Although the original (CN) formula Mace is highly effective against most people, when PCP became a serious problem on the streets, law enforcement personnel discovered that someone who's out of his mind on drugs may not feel the effect of Mace enough to be incapacitated. Similarly, people who are violent and insane may not be stopped by tear gas. Police found that people who were enraged to the point of insanity or people whose bodies had ceased to comprehend pain, such as those on PCP, weren't adequately affected by tear gas. Pepper spray, however, has proven effective against people on drugs, insanely violent or seemingly impervious to other types of pain. Pepper spray wears off slower than tear gas; its oily effects create long lasting discomfort, and it's difficult to wash away.
Tear gas is regulated by countries, by states and by individual cities. Some countries allow no tear gas, others only allow police or military use, and some allow civilian use for self-defense. In the U.S., regulations vary widely by state, and within the state, there may be different regulations concerning use by county or city. In some places, tear gas is not allowed, but pepper spray is. Some states will not allow combined pepper and tear gas sprays. Before buying either tear gas or pepper spray, it's the individual's responsibility to learn the state and city ordinances about their sale, possession and use.
Now let take a look at Tear gas vs. pepper spray.Tear gas operates differently from pepper spray. It is composed of a white crystal suspended in a delivery medium such as sec-butanol, along with various other chemicals. The effects of tear gas are immediate and usually extremely painful: the eyes shut, water and burn; the nose and mouth feel like they're afire; the Maced one coughs and chokes as his airways attempt to close against the chemical.
Using pepper spray products to keep you safer. If personal use is allowed, it's also important to learn the right way to use any spray. The most effective self defense spray in the world can't do you any good if you don't have it when you need it, don't aim it properly, or use it correctly. Not only that: it isn't unheard of for a would-be criminal to attempt to sue the would-be victim over the use of self-defense spray. If you have obeyed the laws of your local, county, state governments you cannot be sued if you used your defense spray for self-defense. Get the training and education you need to make your spray work for you. Damsel in Defense is the first company to have people known as Damsel Pro's (or Bro's, yes there are men who work for Damsel in Defense) that have what is called an "Empower Hour" in which you learn self-defense tips, and also learn how to use each self -defense product they have available.

When a non-stranger attacks!!

The highly publicized start attacks are the attacks we women fear most. Thankfully these are the rarest attacks against women. The most common attacks are Non-Stranger attacks. People we know, people we have had conversations with. Co-workers, acquaintances, friends, and yes, even family sometimes.
Non-stranger attackers or as I like to call them “undercover Assailants” use a completely different approach to subdue their victims than any other attacker I have studied. Undercover Assailants use a unique 3 phase routine to conquer their victim. The 3 phases of an undercover assailant are, Intrusion, desensitization, isolation.
The first phases to an undercover assailant is “Intrusion”during this phase the assailant crosses the “boundary line”. The assailant makes rude remarks and comments towards their victim to see how they are going to react. At first the remarks may be light and not so blunt. They may make remarks like “Those jeans look good on you, they compliment your assets” a comment like this isn’t something he should be saying but it’s harmless enough you brush it off, you may even than him. This will give him the green light to make more comments each one getting more Intrusive. Over time these comments will lead into phase 2.
Desensitize. During phase 2 the “undercover Assailant”   May turn the intrusive remarks into jokes. During this phases you “get use to” and dismiss anything the assailant may say that you do not like. If you were to get defensive he will make out as you are “uptight” or you “can’t take a joke” during this phase your “boundary line” becomes fuzzy and weak and he is allow to cross it without you putting up defense.
IsolationThis is the last phase to the attack. The undercover assailant has you alone, and makes his physical move. During this phase the assailant will use “instrumental violence”    which means his level of violence is based on your level of resistance which usually isn’t much because you believe this is your fault and he has you believing it’s your idea. He will have you believe you lead him on, you made him believe you wanted him and so on and so forth.
This attack is especially dangerous because before you know it you are in phase 3. This attack and attacker is very organized. It is fairly easy to avoid though, ALWAYS enforce your boundary line. DO NOT MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS OR “BRUSH OFF” ANY REMARKS!
No matter who the person is, they are to respect your wishes and stay on their side of the boundary line.

What is Damsel in Defense?

Damsel in Defense is a fairly new company, a direct sales company that is. It uses in home parties called "Empower Hours" to spread the word about the products and services they offer ( I will go into more detail a little later on in this article but for now I am going to stick to the basic out line of the company) Most think Direct Sales companies are scams and schemes and blah blah blah. Well as we all know there are scams and schemes out their however Damsel in Defense is not one of them. The reason Damsel in Defense offers their products and services through Direct Sales instead of just sticking them on a shelf in a store somewhere is for 2 reasons. First reason is how boring and uninformative is a store shelf? How many times have you seen an awesome product, bought it and went home only to totally screw the item up and most likely break it because instructions don't really go into the details you need they just tell you the basic outline of the product;. You are on your own for the most part. With Damsel in Defense we consultants give you a demo of ALL our products. Never ever will you buy an item from Damsel in Defense and not know how it works. Secondly our co founders are stay at home moms, they wanted to not only help women protect themselves but also give women a job opportunity, let's face it once the kids are in school, we start to feel unneeded and like we are missing out on something in life but yet we don't want to time ourselves up to were we are unavailable for our kids. With Direct Sales you have a job while the kids are in school, not just a job, but a business, a purpose. You finally have the best of both worlds, being a stay at home mom and being that woman that you have always wanted to be. You know that woman that is strong and independent, you know the one that every other woman looks up to and thinks "Gosh she is so strong, amazing and independent. She is actually needed, She is actually some body" Well now is your chance to be that woman.
Damsel in Defense offers non lethal self defense products for women with a feminine spin on them. Damsel in Defense also offers a business opportunity for stay at home moms or just women and men in general who want to make a difference in todays world!
